Dry eye disease is a common condition that occurs when your eyes don’t produce enough tears to provide adequate lubrication for your eyes. Tears can be inadequate for many reasons; the eyes may not produce enough tears, the tears may evaporate too quickly, or it can be a mixture of both deficiency and instability.

If you have dry eye disease your eyes may sting or burn. It may feel like a scratchy sensation, as if there is something in your eye you can’t get out. Other symptoms include red eyes, sensitivity to light, and blurred vision.
