What is blepharitis?
Blepharitis is a chronic inflammatory disease of the eyelids caused by overgrowth of bacteria.
The overgrowth of bacteria cause crusting along the lid and base of the eyelashes.
The inflammation adversely affects the tear glands, namely the meibomian glands (tiny oil glands at the base of your eyelids).
Blepharitis is a common cause of dry eyes.
What are the symptoms of blepharitis?
The common symptoms are:
itchy or scratchy eyes
dry eyes
redness/inflammation
crusting
tearing
What is BlephEx?
BlephEx is an in-office procedure done by your eye doctor that treats blepharitis by reducing debris on the eyelids.
