What are Scleral Lenses?
Scleral lenses are large diameter lenses that completely cover the cornea (the clear layer of tissue that covers the colored part of your eye) and extends to the sclera (the white part of the eye).
These lenses are great patients who have:
- Keratoconus
- Extreme dry eye syndrome
- Pellucid marginal corneal degeneration
- high refractive errors such as nearsightedness, farsightedness or astigmatism that are unable to wear other forms of correction
Mr. Pedro Arvizu Huerta suffered from Keratoconus, and after prescribing scleral lenses, they were not only convenient for him but comfortable as well!
